The week is half over!

So today I got the day off from work.... HALLO! After driving all the way to Manasty, VA. (thanks for the term, Julie) and back home, they told me I could have the day off. Needless to say, I've had a good time. I studied for my physics test (which is tomorrow), and caught up on some much needed sleep. I'm doing really well in my physics class so far, thanks to my posse of phythics-- or science--wizards (Ben, Tom, and Julie). Tonight I have that class from 4:30-9:45; isn't that a fun time slot? So, I should probably get on the road for that. Some day I hope to teach my children the fun and enjoyment I get from completing a physics problem.

2 thou-hundred

I can't believe people actually get mad at me for not being able to speak their language.

Just take that line in for a minute. Read it again, and process...

So here's the reason for my comment: Yesterday I had a lady actually yell at me (in Spanish) for not being able to communicate with her. I spent at least 10 minutes trying to convince her that "2 thou-hundred" is not a denomination. She could not request "2 thou-hundred" to withdraw. Is it 2 thousand? Or 2 hundred? Because that's a big difference. THEN after I finished what she wanted me to do and gave her her "2 thou-hundred" dollars, she gave me the dirtiest look and proceeded to move down to the next teller down the line. Are you serious?! You're going to come to the place where I work and not be able to communicate with me and then you're going to blame it on me like it's my fault I don't speak YOUR language???? Wow. As a personal note to said lady (even though I know she won't be able to READ THIS), "Thanks for the dirty look. It really made me feel good, and definitely got me in trouble at the end of the day."

Can you believe that!? I actually got in trouble for possibly causing her unhappiness...

I need a sticker that says "I love my job".

It's Time for an Update!! Geez..

Hello faithful readers. I enjoyed my half-week of free time last week and am now back to working already this summer. Where am I working you may ask? Let's just call it hell, I mean a bank. Sorry, freudian slip. It only helps to think sometimes that I'm just using them for their money (haha). So I have a few things I need to update you on:

On Saturday, mom kk and I went to David's Bridal to try on dresses (well they went to help me out). Sadly I must report that I did not find any there...but I found close to what I was sort of looking for. Maybe that will help. Who knows when we will go next; this summer is going to be so spontaneous it's going to be hard to get any wedding work done. I also tried on one of the most hideous dresses ever created to make a woman look particularly hideous on her wedding day. I actually had to think about including the picture for a while because it was so disgusting but as a disclaimer: my clothes don't normally fit me like this. But I thought it was too funny to pass up, please feel free to laugh. You can even see the look of disgust on my face. Perhaps if I had decided to walk down the aisle in this one, Ben would change his mind. And don't worry Ben, I promise I will not look like this.
So today at work I committed one of the major fashion faux-pas: I wore navy blue shoes with black pants to work!! I don't think anyone noticed--at least I hope not. But if they didn't it was worth it because I looked totally cute, if I do say so myself, in my pink argyle sweater and pearls. They were mom's shoes (because if you have another closet to choose from, your looks are endless!).

Also, Napoleon Dynamite's grandma visited me at the bank today!! She talked with that raspy voice and completely looked the part; I had to restrain myself from laughing and walk to the back when she was talking to her son on the phone.

So that's pretty much it. I'm sure I'll have more updates on the plethora of unusual people I meet at my job.

Girls' Weekend

Well, i did it. Exams are finally over!!! It's so exciting to not have to study anymore...at least for another couple of weeks until Physics starts up again. I stayed up all night last night studying for my exam today and finishing my paper. I think I did a pretty good job on both, if I do say so myself. I'm more awake now than I thought I'd be, but I'm expecting to crash pretty soon. Perhaps I should take a nap before I start packing to go home.

Although it's incredibly nice to be free of any more exams, I am starting to get sad about missing some of my friends this summer. Especially Hannah. She's transferring to UNC next year. At least it's not too far away to visit (which I definitely will be doing!) But hopefully I'll see her more often this summer than I think (especially for wedding stuff!!).

On Sunday a bunch of the girls got together at a local bed and breakfast (Maison Beliveau in Blacksburg--soo beautiful, here is their website) to celebrate being friends with Hannah before she transfers. It was also a nice way to see everyone before summer started. It was such a beautiful day, so the pictures turned out really nice. Honestly, the whole day was picturesque.

The girls enjoying a beautiful lunch under the grape arbor veranda:

I included this picture because it gives a really good view of the bed & breakfast in the background:

Just bein' sassy:

All of the girls together:

This picture is one of my favorites!

And here's a final picture of me and one of my best friends, Hannah:

After such a lovely weekend, I really couldn't complain about studying for exams too much. Well I guess I'd better get to packing up so I can go home tomorrow! Ideally, I will keep up with the blogging more now that my life will be getting so much more exciting during the summer! (Can you say wedding planning??)
