It's 2009

And a Happy New Year to you all! (This only coming 5 days late.) Today is my favorite sister's birthday! Happy Birthday, Katherine! We had a birthday celebration for her with the whole family this past weekend, and it was really nice to spend the evening with everyone.

Tom and Julie are going to be parents pretty soon! I'm pretty excited to have a niece or nephew, and it's expected really any day now. Hopefully I'll get to meet him/her (my bets are on a girl!) before I go back to school in a few weeks.

Ben left today to go back to Bburg. He went back early for his job at school. He says he'll travel back up here either this weekend or the next, so I am already looking forward to seeing him again.

Wedding plans are coming along great. Almost everything is booked, so now it's off to the minute parts of the wedding. Right now we're debating on when to do the saber arch: immediately after the ceremony inside the church so all the guests will be sure to see it--or outside of the church (before or after pictures??). Has anyone been to a military wedding before? Any suggestions on that would be really helpful.

I hope y'all have already had a great first week in the new year.

I haven't been to a military wedding with the saber arch BUT I've seen many wedding pictures of my military friends who have had them (by the way, your bottom picture is Air Force...yeah!) I've always seen it indoors...it really depends on how much room you have down the main aisle. In case you didn't know, prepare for the last saber to swing at your bottom...it's tradition! That's my favorite picture too! :)

I didn't even know you could have a saber arch inside! I think I like it outside better though... If you and Ben usher the guests out then everyone would still be able to see the arch if you were to do it outside.

I like the way the outside arch looks. I haven't been to a military wedding, but I went to a wedding of a major league baseball player, and they did the military arch with baseball bats outside the church. It was adorable, and I think the arch always makes a great picture!

Aww I LOVE your church. The place where we got married was a little built in 1800 looking chapel just like this. So romantic!!

Wait I feel like an ass now. Haha you are PLANNING the wedding.

We have a pic that looks identical to the top photo. We were so nervous because it was raining in the morning and we wanted to do the sabre arch sooo badly. Luckily the sun came out as soon as we said our vows. And we were able to do it outside.

I wouldn't have had it any other way. :)

Plus some churches have rules about "drawing a weapon" inside.

I'm so jealous that you are able to have a military wedding! It's not my dream to have one, but it IS Mr.Airforce's dream! (that's my fiance)

We can't find an AF base close enough to my home town that will do it!
